alrighteyy today's special!
Trifle. x3 if you guys haven't tried it, you've been missing something good. there are a few versions out there but my family speciality is Raspberry Jellied Strawberry Sponge Roll Trifle with Mixed Fruit Salad. drooling yet? ahah! alright so here it goes.. first of all, you need to get strawberry sponge rolls they sell in the bread aisle. those mini little rolled-up sponge rolls. got them? then next, you'll need jello, preferably raspberry/strawberry/berry mixture. mm, let's see, then you'll need custard powder. or if you're that lazy, just grab a carton of custard from the dairy section. although personally i don't like them cos they're too milky and not sweet enough for my liking. so i do mine to my own taste. oh and also at the dairy section, grab a can of whipped cream, or cream. if you do get the normal cream however, you'd need to put in the elbow grease and beat them to a fluffy texture later on. or an alternative is to bring out the electric beaters. don't forget a can of mixed fruit, whatever your preference may be, personally i like mango and peaches, but for the family i decided on mixed fruit salad. and finally, the final touch, slivered almonds. alright now we're making trifle. get a big dish, and line the dish with the sponge rolls, make sure it's even all around. then prepare the jello according to the pack and pour over sponge rolls in dish, making sure the sponge rolls soak up the jello. now put that into the fridge to set. depending on your jello, may take up to an hour or overnight, but whenever the jello's set then you can move onto the next step. get your can of mixed fruit and put a layer of fruit on top of the jellied sponge roll layer. if the sponge rolls don't look too soaked in jello, you can douse them in a bit of the mixed fruit salad syrup. and then we're ready for the custard. make the custard according to the package, or just pour from carton. and then a layer of cream, whether from a can or whipped. ^^ roast the almonds in the oven on grill mode. and sprinkle almonds on trifle. TADAH. all done. now dig in! |
