HELLO! ahhh.. it's been a long time eh? alrightey. let's see what comes into my head first.
to andrea: i did receive the shimmerpowder =) THANK YOU =) my bodyshop whitemusk collection is nearly there. =P i cooked dinner today!! ALL BY MYSELF! =D as in i planned all this like since friday and i wrote up all the ingredients for my dinner. i wanted to make a simple Japanese meal so i made *Main: Oyaku donburi (Japanese Chicken-with-egg on rice) *Sides: Chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard with chicken and mushrooms), Potato Croquettes (breaded and fried Japanese potato patties with minced pork and onion) ^^ felt like a real achievement making dinner for the whole family. pity it was a little too much =P daddy was the only one who managed to finish the whole meal. we now have leftover potato croquettes. and tammy didn't finish her chawanmushi. *grr* i spent the most time on it. art excursion in Sydney city was good. =) thank God for good weather. took loads of photos of buildings and all. one thing that really stood out was the Anzac War Memorial. and plus that MCR song The Ghost of You repeating in my head as i was walking through the memorial. plus that chilling and awe-inspiring statue of The Fallen Soldier by Raynor Hoff at the centre of the memorial. by this time the climax of that MCR song was blaring in my mind. The Fallen Soldier was a statue of a yound naked defeated man/soldier, his defeated body draped over his circular Spartan shield, arms supported by his broad sword so it lies in a spreadeagled way; his whole being modelled in such a way, it's reminisence of Jesus on the cross, arms spread out on the arms of the cross and body void of strength at that point in time. this pose was taken to represent the sacrifice of all the men present at the two World Wars. The Fallen Soldier is carried by four grieving women supporting four different sides of the shield on their shoulders. these women represent daughters, girlfriends, mothers, sisters of The Fallen Soldiers of World War one and two. the statue is to represent the sacrifice these men made for their country. i particularly like the words in gold on the floor just before you step into the entrance of the enclave the statue is in; "Let your silent contemplation be your offering" you're never coming home, never coming home... the memorial had a dome ceiling full of gold stars dotting almost the whole surface of the ceiling, each represent each man/soldier that died in warfare. there were four black stars though; not sure what it means. on the way home i listened to that song again, and this time i took out my sketchbook and started sketching. i know these present thoughts may seem a little morbid, it is to a certain extent, a little in reverence to these men that died, a little in disgust at what the humans are able to do to each other, a little of relating to these four women. i have school tmr. so i better hop off to go sleep. =) |
